Optiwax waxes are made in Lappeenranta, Finland. In the production Optima-Sport Oy uses same technologies as in the” Nanoskies” (brand name Nanogrip and Optigrip) of Karhu and Peltonen. In 2010, this ski innovation won the biggest innovation competition in Finland called INNOSUOMI. Both Nanoskies and Optiwax waxes are based on Matti Järvinen's product development. 

Optiwax waxes were created on the base of these Nanoskies, Optima-Sport Oy uses the same raw materials and equipments in the production. Raw Materials for waxes come from all over the world, for example (U.S, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, Finland, Italy). The idea behind the wax is to think differently and create something new. In the wax production and raw-material treatments Optima-Sport uses the help of Jyväskylä University.
